Roel Carranza

Roel was born in Manila, Philippines. He’s always loved to fix things. He completed his Automotive course at the Guzman Institute of Technology in Manila in 1996. From there he worked in several different shops as a diesel/gas automotive mechanic. Roel and his wife made the decision in 2008 to come to Canada so that they could make a better life for his family. He left his wife and daughter behind in the Philippines and started at a Minit Lube in Red Deer. He saw that there were many opportunities for hard working, honest and dedicated people and dreamed of the day that he could bring his family together in Alberta. Roel had to work in other fields in order to make enough money to bring his family to Canada and after many struggles and much patience he finally was able to become a permanent resident and his family was reunited. Roel decided to return to the automotive industry and applied to another Minit Lube in 2016. He was happy to be back in the industry but felt that he wanted to do more than just routine maintenance and to further develop his skills to become a better mechanic. He applied at Pro-Active in October of 2019 and we were delighted to hire him.
